Ok, you have your diagnosis. You have cancer. The initial shock of hearing “the c-word” has now worn off. Now comes the hard part… what do I do now?

The first rule of cancer club… is be optimistic.
The second rule of cancer club… is BE OPTIMISTIC!

Focus on What You Can Do

I am not saying you are required to be the captain of the cancer cheer squad, in fact, I personally found that super bubbly, valley girl, “you can do it!” attitude to be very irritating. What I am saying is that you need to be positive, and focus on what you CAN do, not what you CAN’T do. This also means that you need to accept that you CAN have bad moments. Cry, scream, kick…hell go ahead and break something! Ever just taken a dish and smashed it on the pavement? Give it a try! Feel better?

The power of positive thinking is a well-documented scientific phenomenon. There are thousands of book and literature resources available online and in bookstores that demonstrate how we think will affect our biochemistry. So go to the self-help section of your local library and find a book that inspires you to look to the light and not the dark. Try meditation, guided imagery, or breathing techniques. I personally recommend guided imagery and yoga. There are so many options available and for FREE at your local library. Most treatment centers that work with cancer patients will have a full resource library dedicated to these exact types of educational resources.

Using Cannabis for Cancer

Many people ask me, “how did you stay so positive?” My answer is simple; weed! Marijuana not only helped keep me from tossing my cookies all day but it also helped me keep a calm and happy attitude as I went about my daily trips to the hospital. Using a THC oral spray throughout the day allowed me to stay relaxed and focus on my daily tasks without falling down the dangerous “what if…” pathway. Thinking about the worst that can happen is the easiest way to bring on a panic attack. Does this mean that if you stay positive and use marijuana you will be skipping to your doctor’s appointments? Doesn’t really work like that, but it does help you have more good days than bad ones.

Want to try an oral THC spray to help you stay calm, breathe, and carry on? Come on down to Torrey Holistics, San Diego’s finest legal cannabis dispensary!
